Leon's Glenn Edwards steps down as MD

Fast food brand Leon's managing director Glenn Edwards has stepped down from his role with immediate effect.

Edwards, who has been with the business for over 12 years, is leaving to take on a COO role within the beauty sector later this month.

In his place, Leon has appointed Ashley Davis as interim managing director of the company.

Davis has been with Leon since 2019 and will continue in her role as grocery managing director while continuing to lead as interim managing director.

Davis said: "Leon is a fantastic, unique foodie proposition in a busy market that I know very well. I'm excited to lead the business to deliver our company mission, to both loyal and new customers, of making food that tastes good, does you good and is kind to the planet.

"On behalf of everyone at Leon, I would like to sincerely thank Glenn for his significant contribution and we wish him all the best for the future."

Prior to joining the fast-food chain, Davis worked in the buying teams at both Sainsbury's and Ocado for over a decade, as well as on the supplier side in produce companies. She also has run her own business with several cafes in south London, alongside a catering company for wedding and corporate events.

The news of Edwards' departure and Davis' appointment comes as supermarket giant Asda took ownership of the Leon restaurant chain as part of a £2b deal to acquire the majority of its sister company EG Group's UK business.

The deal was announced in May and completed on 31 October with Asda stating it would look to introduce the Leon brand into its stores as part of a move into the foodservice market.
