Mandarin Oriental announces two new leadership appointments

Mandarin Oriental has announced two senior leadership appointments. Amanda Hyndman has been promoted to the position of chief people officer while Francesco Cefalú has been promoted to the role of chief development officer.

Hyndman, who joined the company in 2007, is responsible for establishing, implementing, and evaluating the hotel group's global human resoureces strategies.

Her career spans over 30 years in the luxury hotel industry, and she has held several senior management roles including: general manager of Mandarin Oriental hotels in Hong Kong and Bangkok, and area vice president of London, Munich, and Prague. Hyndman was subsequently appointed group director of quality and rooms in 2020.

After the anoucement of her new role, Hyndman said in a post on LinkedIn she has the "huge privilege" of working with the group's senior leadership "to support and care for all our colleagues around the world".

Cefalú joined the company as regional development director for EMEA in 2016. In his new role as chief development officer, Cefalú will be responsible for overseeing the development of the group's pipeline of hotels and residences worldwide.

James Riley, group chief executive at Mandarin Oriental, said: "I am delighted to announce Amanda and Francesco's promotions to their new roles. Both have made outstanding contributions to the success of the group, and I am confident that they will continue to lead their teams with passion and dedication, helping us achieve our ambitious growth plans for the future."
