Mildreds to open two London sites in 2024 after securing additional funding

Plant-based restaurant Mildreds has secured a multi-million pound funding package to "continue the rollout" of its brands across London, with two more sites due to open in 2024.

Mildreds was founded in 1988 and now has seven sites across the capital, two of which are under the spin-off concept Mallow, which first launched in 2021.

The restaurant group has received another round of funding from existing investors Encore Capital, who have been supporting Mildreds' growth since 2019.

Mildreds is set to open in a Grade II-listed fire station in Wimbledon in early 2024. The 100-cover restaurant will come with an outdoor terrace and a new plant-based bakery concept, Mima, which will serve vegan pastries, open sandwiches and classic Mildreds desserts.

It will also launch a 120-cover restaurant in Victoria that will offer an all-day selection of plant-based dishes.

Sam Anstey, managing director, said: "With this substantial investment, the group is set to embark on an exciting journey of expansion and innovation, promising even more exceptional dining experiences.

"Securing additional funding from Encore Capital has allowed us to continue the rollout of our iconic brands across London. Despite ongoing economic challenges, we continue to thrive and seek out opportunities for future growth, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team helping to create a local and international customer base. With a commitment to offering a delicious, cruelty-free menu, supporting local communities, and championing sustainable practices, Mildreds continues to redefine the vegan dining experience."
