Nest to move to ‘bigger, bolder' restaurant site in Shoreditch

The team behind the Michelin-starred Restaurant St Barts in London are to move their debut site, Nest, to a "bigger, bolder space" in Shoreditch this October.

Johnnie Crowe, Luke Wasserman and Toby Neill opened Nest in Hackney in 2018, offering a tasting menu using sustainably farmed British produce.

The move will take Nest into a double-fronted Victorian building near to Shoreditch Town Hall and will see the launch of the Nest Cellar, a bar complete with wooden benches, pickled produce, and a counter. This will be used to welcome guests with cocktails and small plates, such as house bread with home churned butters, game bird terrine and British cheese and oatcakes.

Crowe will continue to work with British seasonal produce from small-scale farmers and suppliers, including Alternative Meats, Keltic Seafare and Shrub Provisions.

The relaunched Nest will offer its game season tasting menu for £65 per person, featuring dishes such as seaweed and kale baked "Rockefeller" oysters and Nest fried partridge with XO sauce dusted in chilli powder.

This will be followed by a beef season menu, which will feature Milk Bread with beef fat butter and grated cured beef heart.

The restaurant will also offer weekday lunch services on top of the usual dinner service.

Wasserman said: "We've loved every minute of our time on Morning Lane, but it's time for us to move into a space that allows us to continue to push boundaries and improve the experience for our amazing guests and hard-working team.

"It has been an incredible year for us - thanks to the team's hard work, we were awarded a Michelin star at Restaurant St Barts less than six months after opening. Now, we are excited and focused on taking Nest to the next level."
