Six by Nico to open first restaurant in Wales

Tasting menu restaurant group Six by Nico is to open its first site in Wales on 14 August.

Located in the former Zizzi's site in Cardiff at 27 High Street, the restaurant will bring the group's themed menu experience to the Welsh capital.

The Six by Nico brand was founded in Finnieston, Scotland in 2017 and offers six-course tasting menus for £48 in London and £39 outside the capital, excluding drinks.

Menus change every six weeks and current themes include ‘the Chippie Experience', which offers reimagined chip shop classics, and one inspired by the food of Sicily.

The Cardiff site will create 40-50 jobs and its design will pay homage to the medieval structure of Cardiff Castle.

Nico Simeone, founder and acting chief executive of Six by Nico, said: "We have been lucky enough to grow our concept, since opening a small 30 cover restaurant in Glasgow in 2017. Cardiff marks a huge milestone for us, as this will be our first location in Wales.

"We are really excited to bring our ever-evolving experience to the community of Cardiff and Wales – it's a special moment for me and the team who have been here since the beginning, we can't wait to show off the Six by Nico experience."

The group has found success with its regularly changing format and the Cardiff site will be its 12th open and trading restaurant, joining locations in Aberdeen, Belfast, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, and Manchester.

In January, parent company Sixco said it was planning "significant expansion" in the UK, including the launch of patisserie brand Valaria in Glasgow, and a potential site in Dubai.
