Sodexo extends catering contract with AstraZeneca

Sodexo has secured a five-year extension to its catering contract with AstraZeneca for an undisclosed sum.

The foodservice giant will continue to provide food and facilities management services across the pharmaceutical company's global footprint in the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway.

Sodexo first entered its partnership with AstraZeneca in 2008 in the UK and has since committed to providing further workplace, cleaning, technical, waste handling and grounds maintenance services.

The contract caterer will also introduce initiatives such as WasteWatch to limit food waste by 50% by 2025, the ‘Reusable Food Box' scheme to avoid single-use packaging waste, and carbon labelling on menus to influence eating habits.

Johan Stellingwerf, chief operating officer for global strategic accounts at Sodexo, said: "We are very pleased to have extended our long-lasting partnership with AstraZeneca. Together, we share a mutual commitment to nurturing healthy people, healthy planet and healthy society within our workplaces. We will continue to enhance AstraZeneca's best-in-class workplace by delivering sustainable experiences every day for everyone."

Sodexo was founded by Pierre Bellon in Marseille, France, in 1966.
