Waverley Castle hotel sold to Leisureplex Hotel Group
Waverly Castle hotel in Melrose has been sold to Leisureplex Hotel Group for an undisclosed sum.
It is the latest property in the Coast & Country Collection to change hands after a portfolio was put on the market earlier this year.
Set within five acres of parkland, the 77-bedroom hotel offers views of the Eildon Hills and can act as a base for guests to explore the Scottish Borders.
Waverly Castle will become the 23rd property in the Leisureplex Hotel Group.
Gary Witham, director in Christie & Co's Scottish Hospitality team, who acted for the seller, said: "The property is one of the 33 hotels positioned in leading resort and leisure destinations across England, Scotland and Wales, that we are currently marketing on behalf of the Coast & Country Hotel Collection.
"The hotels have received very strong interest to date, and a limited number of these assets remain available, so we invite any interested parties to get in touch."
Other Coast & Country hotel properties sold this year include the Claymore hotel in Scotland, which was bought by Caledonian Leisure, and the Golden Lion in Norfolk, which was acquired by holiday operator L & J Leisure.
Enquiries regarding the remaining Coast & Country Hotels on the market should be directed to Jeremy Jones, head of hotel brokerage at Christie & Co.
