De Castellane Champagne quartet from Bibendum Wine

The four latest De Castellane Champagnes - Brut Croix Rouge NV, Brut Rosé NV, Brut Vintage 2002 and Demi-Sec NV - are targeted mainly at the on trade.

The Brut Croix Rouge NV is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 30% Pinot Meunier. It has a bouquet of white flowers, fruit compote and brioche, and a palate with hints of vanilla, white-fleshed fruits and gingerbread.

The Brut Rosé combines 40% Pinot Noir, 30% Pinot Meunier and 30% Chardonnay. Its fruity, floral nose has aromas of gooseberry and strawberry while the fresh palate has a flavour of strawberries.

The Brut Vintage 2002 is 45% Pinot Noir and 55% Chardonnay. Fragrances of stewed apricots and peach evolve into mocha and marzipan. Complex, creamy flavours result from a four-year ageing process, with hints of greengage, biscuits, candied orange and chocolate.

Demi-Sec also combines the three grape varieties, with Pinot Noir dominant (40%). The scent of white flowers, peach, rose, cinnamon and hazelnuts is balanced by a palate with hints of peach, spices and stewed fruit.
