Merrychef opens life testing lab in Aldershot

Merrychef, part of the Enodis group, has opened a new facility close to its headquarters in Ash Vale, Aldershot to house an electronic laboratory and life testing area plus office space for the new product development team.

The sound-proofed, multi-product life testing area allows Merrychef to conduct the stringent endurance tests that are a necessary requirement for all new products and design updates.

The electronic laboratory enables the team to develop and test new programmes and software on-site, which is necessary as technological advances form an increasingly essential part of Accelerated Cooking Technology.

"Technologically the accelerated cooking market is moving fast," said Nigel Thorneywork, Merrychef's Technical Director. "Earlier this year we launched a USB version of menukey®, which allows a menu to be updated via email. This technology is increasingly popular and we will be launching further technological developments in 2009."
