New French cheese partnership for Paxton & Whitfield

British artisan cheesemonger Paxton & Whitfield has joined forces with Paris-based fromagerie Androuet in a new venture that will bring French artisan cheeses to the UK in addition to taking British artisan cheeses to Paris.

Both companies have a long established history in fine cheese retailing: Paxton & Whitfield has been selling cheese in London since 1797 and Androuet celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

Paxton & Whitfield will stock French cheeses from Androuet - including Le 1909, an unpasteurised ewe's milk cheese, and Comte Androuet, an unpasteurised cow's milk cheese - in its UK stores, online and through wholesalers. The company already stocks over 90 French cheeses and the new partnership will increase the number of seasonal and unusual cheeses available.

Ros Windsor, managing director of Paxton & Whitfield, said: "We feel that this venture will enable us to bring an unparalleled selection of the best and most interesting French cheeses to our customers.
