As Easy as internet cafés

The EasyInternetCafe franchise is not actually a food service concept but it naturally combines with a quick service coffee bar or refreshment kiosk operation. Created by Easyjet founder Stelios, cafés provide from 35 to 125 places where people can rent time on Internet terminals at competitive rates. There are 25 currently operating in the UK and 12 other countries.

Franchisees - who could also be operating a fast food business, their own or franchised - need no technical qualifications thanks to the "plug-and-play" design of the computer equipment. Franchise start-up fee is £3500 and initial fit-out for units able to handle 50-100 people is £25,000-£50,000.

The company says that units do not necessarily depend on prime sites and can be successful in upper floors or basements. Franchisees get intensive training in running the operation.
