Barclay brothers eye up Paris Ritz

The Barclay brothers, owners of the Ritz hotel in London, have reportedly held talks with Harrods boss Mohammed Al Fayed in a bid to buy the Paris Ritz from him. It is understood the billionaire twins would like to reunite the two hotels, founded by C‚zar Ritz in the 1900s.

A spokeswoman for the London Ritz described the reports as "speculative".

A spokesman for Al Fayed said: "The Ritz is not for sale to the Barclay brothers or anyone, nor will it ever be. It will always remain in family ownership."

The Barclay brothers bought the 131-bedroom London Ritz six years ago.
