Beere quits Cliveden after Von Essen buy

Laurence Beere, general manager of Cliveden, the newly sold Berkshire country house hotel, will be leaving the hotel.

Despite early reports that he was talking to the new owners about staying on, Beere has now ruled out the possibility.

"There are no ongoing discussions," he said. "I'm looking to figure out what to do next."

It is understood that Beere felt he could not work with the new owners, Von Essen Hotels, which paid more than £50m for Cliveden in a package with the Royal Crescent hotel in Bath.
