Braille menus at restaurants in Bristol

Braille menus have been produced for 10 Bristol restaurants, including Harveys and Chez Gérard.

The menus were translated by local company A2i Transcription Services, which has recently started offering the service as well as large-print menus.

According to a survey conducted by A2i last year, less than 8% of restaurants have copies of their menus in Braille.

But the provision of Braille menus is unlikely to be among compulsory measures to be enforced under the Disability Discrimination Act in October 2004. About 20,000 blind people read Braille in the UK, just 3% of the total number.
