WIMPY, Britain's oldest surviving fast food franchise, reports successful conversion of all of its UK and Ireland branches to the new brand image and fascia it introduced two years ago. The chain now has just over 300 branches operating in three versions:

Kiosk, costing from £45,000 to set up; Express counter service units (£90,000); and table service outlets (£140,000). Unlike virtually all other foodservice franchise schemes, which operate on royalties on sales, UK franchisees pay Wimpy's franchise costs via a mark-up on supplies of key menu items.
