Buxton's Crescent to open as spa

The Grade I-listed Crescent in Buxton, Derbyshire, is to be transformed into an 87-bedroom luxury hotel and thermal spa following a £23m redevelopment.

Derbyshire County Council and High Peak Borough Council have appointed the Trevor Osbourne Property Group as developers. The company will work in conjunction with CP Holdings, the parent company of Hungarian hotel and spa operator Danubius, which will manage the property when it opens.

Pending a successful appeal for Heritage Lottery funding, construction on the Georgian buildings is scheduled to start next year. The developers believe the thermal spa will be the first to open in the UK for more than a century.
