Caines's May Pole honour
The call to cook for Prime Minister Tony Blair and Poland's visiting head of state, President Aleksander Kwasniewski, came Michael Caines's way last week. Devon-based chef-restaurateur Caines (above) was responsible for a banquet given for Kwasniewski at 10 Downing Street on 6 May, which included ballotine of foie gras with girolle mushrooms, roasted turbot and scallops with a pea pur‚e and a trio of chocolate desserts. "Cooking at Number 10 has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience which I thoroughly enjoyed," Caines said.
