C&A's Harris pips Ramsay to TV chef slot

John Harris, company development chef at contract caterer Catering & Allied Services (C&A), is set to become the latest chef to gain TV stardom.

Mr Harris has beaten 40 other chefs to scoop the cookery slot on The Afternoon Show, a series of 10 weekly magazine programmes to be shown on southern channel Meridian next January and February.

Mr Harris, who joined C&A 10 years ago after working in hotels and restaurants, beat a field that included Gordon Ramsay of London's highly-rated Aubergine restaurant.

"It's probably the only thing I'll ever beat Gordon Ramsay at in my life and I'm really looking forward to it," he told Caterer.
