Mark Wilson last week became Chef of the Year at the Royal Navy's 12th Salon Culinaire, held on HMS Nelson in Portsmouth.
Mr Wilson, who serves on board the aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious, prepared a meal of chicken breast with lobster, followed by warm apple cake.
This year's competition marked the end of the title "cook" in the Royal Navy and the introduction of the title "chef". The change is intended to reflect the increased professional knowledge and skills expected of personnel in the modern navy.
