MBo at Cortepaille
Accor has sold an 80% stake in its Cortepaille restaurant subsidiary to a management team backed by venture capital firm Barclays Private Equity France. Cortepaille has 119 restaurants in France and annual sales of about €90m (£55m).
Marriott sell-off
Marriott International has sold the 1,100-bedroom Marriott Village complex in Orlando, Florida, for $104m (£71m) to hotel investment firm CNL Hospitality. Marriott will continue to run the hotels.
Burger King cleared
A judge in Michigan has dismissed claims by franchisee La-Van Hawkins of racial discrimination and breach of contract against Burger King Corporation. Burger King said it would seek to take control of Hawkins' 22 restaurants.
Prague in the pink
Hotel room yields in Prague increased by more than 21% during the first seven months of 2000, according to agent Jones Lang LaSalle. This was a result of the recovery of the Czech economy and stable demand for hotel rooms.
Rhodes island beds
Hilton International is to open a 402-bedroom hotel on the Greek island of Rhodes and a 246-bedroom hotel in Sofia, Bulgaria, in March.
Eastern crusade
Radisson SAS is opening four hotels in Eastern Europe: a 277-bedroom property in Tallinn, Estonia; a 75-bedroom hotel in Klaìpeda, Lithuania; a 166-bedroom hotel in St Petersburg, Russia; and a 136-bedroom hotel in Sofia, Bulgaria.
