A BUST of Sir Winston Churchill (above) gazes out across the recently refurbished lobby of the Churchill Inter-Continental hotel on Portman Square, London.
The bust was unveiled when the hotel was first opened at a cost of £5m in May 1970.
Now, 24 years later, the hotel has been completely refurbished at a cost of £9.5m.
The Churchill Inter-Continental - now owned by the Saison Group of Japan - was originally opened by Loews Hotel Corporation of the USA. In keeping with its USA connections the hotel has been offering a special D-Day package which includes a three-day trip to Normandy.
