Chorion buys Sugar Reef and Red Cube

London bar-restaurants Sugar Reef and Red Cube have been sold to bar and nightclub operator Chorion for £7.5m in cash.

The bar-restaurants belonged to the White Star Line group, whose directors are Jimmy Lahoud, Mark Fuller and Marco Pierre White.

Chorion operates 13 nightclubs, most of them in London. Its flagship Tiger Tiger brand also has clubs in Birmingham and Manchester.

Sugar Reef, off Piccadilly, opened in November 1999 and holds 1,000 people. Red Cube, on Leicester Square, only opened in November last year. It holds 600.

It is understood that the venues were trading well and had not been up for sale, but Chorion approached the owners with a good offer.

Earlier this month, Chorion bought the 700-capacity 10 Room Covent Garden from City Bars and Restaurants for £2.75m.
