Baltic centre picks Compass division

Restaurant Associates, the fine-dining division of Compass Group, has won a six-year contract to run a 50-seat caf‚ bar and 120-seat fine-dining riverside restaurant at Baltic, the modern arts centre in Gateshead, Tyne & Wear. The contract, worth a total of £9m in turnover, starts at the end of this month.

Local company McCoy's, which continues to manage Baltic's third restaurant on the top floor, previously ran the whole catering operation. Baltic opened in July 2002.

Eaton Group wins Royal approval

Eaton Group has been awarded a three-year contract to manage the catering facilities at the Royal Society in Carlton Terrace, London. The contract turns over about £1m a year. The group will manage the conference and banqueting across 10 function rooms, together with staff dining.

Avenance previously held the contract.

Bath RC tells Fosters to scrum on down

Fosters Event Catering has scored with a contract at Bath Rugby Club worth £1m in annual turnover. The four-year deal kicks off with the first home game against Northampton on 20 September. Fosters will cater for fans in the executive boxes and at the 110-seat restaurant in the Hamptons International stand.

In association with local event organiser FAB!, the caterer will also host events at the rugby ground.

Autograph ready for time behind bars

Autograph Foodservice, the business and industry arm of Initial Catering Services, has won two police authority contracts, taking its total in the sector to six.

It has secured a four-year contract with the Suffolk Constabulary, starting in October, whereby it will run staff restaurants, hospitality and vending services, as well as catering at emergencies and special operations. The contract will turn over about £450,000 a year.

Autograph has also been awarded a three-year stretch with Tayside Police, where it will run a restaurant for 600 staff as well as on-site vending. The contractor will also supply catering services to prisoners and Tayside magistrates' court. The deal will have an annual turnover of £165,000 a year.
