Delifrance European Sandwich Challenge
THE Flamenco sandwich recipe, created by Muriel Jendrain from Portugal, scooped the title of supreme champion in the Delifrance European Sandwich Challenge, held in Paris.
Jerry Davies, the UK executive chef of the Thistle Tower Hotel, finished a close second with his grilled onion baguette filled with marinated BBQ lamb kebabs.
The international competition has been running for several months across six European countries: UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Germany and Switzerland. Each country held its own competition culminating in six finalists to take part in the final.
Each finalist had 45 minutes to prepare their recipe, which was presented to a panel of ten judges.
