Domino's profits rise

Pizza delivery company Domino's Pizza UK and Ireland has reported pre-tax profit up by 19% to £1.85m for the year to 26 December 1999.

The annual results are the company's first since it floated on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange last November.

Group turnover rose by 24% to £25.6m, while sales across all Domino's stores, including franchises, rose by 16% to £63.5m.

The growth was a result of opening 27 new delivery stores during the year, as well as an increase in average sales. Like-for-like sales rose by 5.6%.

The company now has 201 stores in the UK, up from 175 a year ago.

Domino's wants to expand its current 20% share of the pizza delivery market, through building new stores and extending its e-commerce system that allows customers to order their pizzas via the Internet.
