Drink-drive restaurateur had business worries

A Bath restaurateur involved in a drink-drive accident blamed his drinking on depression caused by business worries.

Andrew Palmer-Rich, 24, who runs Mother's Bar and Restaurant with his wife Tanya, was more than double the drink-drive limit when he had an accident in Bath in which a moped rider was injured.

He admitted the offence at Bath Magistrates' Court and was banned from driving for two years. He was also ordered to pay £214 in fines and costs.

The court heard that since opening the business last October, Palmer-Rich had worked 16-hour days and struggled to make the venture viable, leading to depression and drinking.
