EHL appoints Toman to new Alan Hopper chair
Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, the Swiss hospitality business school, announced the creation of the Alan Hopper chair in finance last week.
The professorship is being funded by organisers and sponsors of the Fifth International Hotel Investment Forum.
Allen Toman will be the first professor appointed to the chair. Toman, who starts his new role in June, will teach real estate finance, asset management, corporate finance, and economics to students taking the master in hospitality administration programme.
The chair honours the memory of Hopper, who died in January. He worked for 30 years in hotel consultancy, first with PKF and then Andersen, and pioneered the first European hotel industry surveys in the 1970s.
