English wine tasting
English wine has really taken off in the Far East, where it is well matched to the style of food, according to Julia Trustram Eve, who presented the English wine tasting on behalf of English Wine Producers. "We're doing more research into matching the wine with food," she said. "English wine will go with British food, but the lighter wines lend themselves well to Oriental food." She added that English Wine Producers, an organisation founded to promote English wines, was working to dispel the perceived image of English wines as being too expensive and difficult to sell. "When you see the prices paid for a single-estate French wine, then £6 for a single-estate English wine is not bad. English wine has a great future."
