Eurest takes five-site SWEB contract from Sutcliffe

Eurest next month takes over from Sutcliffe as operator of the £400,000-a-year turnover contract to feed staff at South West Electricity Board (SWEB) at five sites across the region.

SWEB facilities manager Simon Marshall said Eurest was awarded the contract against competition from Sutcliffe and Gardner Merchant.

"We looked at what Eurest had to offer in terms of cost and ideas and they fitted in well with the way we wanted to go forward," said Mr Marshall.

From 2 June, Eurest will be operating a traditional canteen, as well as introducing its Upper Crust sandwich bar and a Stop Gap convenience shop.

The contract is for one year, renewable for up to a maximum of three years.

Meanwhile, parent group Compass has completed the final phase of a three-year restructuring programme.

This sees John Greenwood appointed executive director responsible for Compass Group's UK food service contracts.

It brings education caterer Chartwells and healthcare wing Bateman under his control, together with a new division, Specialist Catering, which includes the firm's offshore business.

Mike Oldfield, special projects director, takes over from Mr Greenwood as Eurest's managing director for England and Wales.
