Flower baskets upset planners

A Suffolk pub has come under fire for putting up hanging baskets of flowers without planning permission.

The baskets at the King's Arms at Haughley, near Stowmarket, might have to be removed if an application for planning permission submitted by the pub's owners Greene King fails.

When an inspector came to look at lanterns that had been added to the Grade II-listed building, the hanging baskets were brought into question as well.

Landlord John Deredas said: "It's ludicrous. No one else has been asked to do this and there are dozens of listed buildings in Haughley. We've been here two years and I have followed on the tradition of other landlords."
