Fuller, Smith and Turner doubles bedroom stock

Pub and hotel group Fuller, Smith and Turner will almost double its number of hotel bedrooms this year.

It is opening a 94-bedroom Brigstow hotel in Bristol in August and a 64-bedroom Chamberlain hotel in London in October. It will also complete a 22-bedroom extension at its Fox and Goose hotel in Ealing, London, in October.

Two months ago it opened the 37-bedroom White Hart hotel at Kingston Bridge in London.

It has spent £16m on its hotel projects so far this year and expects to spend a further £8m in the next six months. By the end of the year it will have almost doubled the number of bedrooms it has to just under 500.

Fuller, Smith and Turner reported an increase in pre-tax profits to £15.6m in the year ended 31 March, up by 6% on the £14.8m recorded the previous year.

Turnover was up by 8% to £128.1m, from £118.4m the year before.

The company has 117 managed pubs and bars and 108 tenanted pubs. During the year it opened seven managed and four tenanted pubs.
