Fuller's to develop City hotel

London-based brewer and pub operator Fuller, Smith & Turner has unveiled details of the hotel it is developing in the City of London.

Fuller's has bought the freehold of a turn-of-the-century office building in the Minories, near Aldgate, which it will convert into a 64-bedroom hotel with a large Ale & Pie pub on the ground floor.

The hotel and pub are set to open next September. Fuller's will invest £5.1m in the conversion.

The sale forms part of a £20m investment over the next two years in the company's English Inns hotels brand.

Fuller's already runs two hotels in central London, the Mad Hatter on the South Bank of the Thames and Sanctuary House in Westminster. It claims occupancy rates at both hotels consistently top 90%.
