Gruyre is just champion
Cheese judges unanimously voted Le Gruyre Premier Cru (left) world champion for the third time at the World Cheese Awards held at the International Food Exhibition in London last week.
The 16-month-old Swiss Gruyre, produced by Von MŸhlenen, beat 1,660 cheeses to be crowned top cheese, with judges describing its fruitiness, saltiness and nuttiness as "simply outstanding".
Gorwydd Caerphilly from Trethowan's Dairy won Best British Cheese, while Kerry Gold Medium Cheddar was crowned Best Irish Cheese.
