Guild of Chefs will help to train Asda staff

The Craft Guild of Chefs is poised to sign a deal with supermarket chain Asda to help with the training of staff for its in-store restaurants.

Representatives of the guild met Asda executives at the store chain's Leeds headquarters last week and hope to sign the deal later this year.

John Retallick, administration and development manager at the guild, said the deal was one of several with industry the guild was now looking at.

Commercial deals which the guild already enjoys include endorsements of several major manufacturers, including Electrolux and Villeroy & Boch.

The Asda deal would involve the guild charging the supermarket for its consultancy services.
