Hulstone leads Elephant brigade

Chef Simon Hulstone and his partner, Katie Cale, have taken charge at the Elephant restaurant in Torquay, Devon.

Hulstone, the 2003 Roux Scholar and former head chef at Cotswold House, will head a kitchen brigade of five, while Cale, formerly at Cheltenham's two-Michelin-starred Le Champignon Sauvage, will lead the front-of-house operation as restaurant manager.

As well as the main restaurant, the Elephant has a 20-seat bar and a Champagne bar which will come under the couple's remit.

The Elephant is owned by hoteliers Mark and Rose Ashton.
