Imperial Hotel undergoes £1m refurb

Blackpool's Imperial Hotel is to undergo a £1m refurbishment before it hosts both the Liberal Democrat and Tory party conferences later this year.

The plans are to upgrade the hotel's No.10 bar, public areas and reception as well as refurbishing 41 sea-facing rooms to Premium class, five of the nine suites and 80 other bedrooms.

Work on the hotel, which is part of the Paramount Group, is due to be completed by June.

General manager Howard Lewis said the refurbishment marked "a significant investment in the future of the hotel".
