Impulse retailing breakthroughs

The Turboserve open-front merchandising unit launched by Alan Nuttall at the Total Sandwich Show enables hot impulse foods like pizza, chicken portions, jacket potatoes, pastries and hot sandwiches to be held on self-service display. A patented air flow system circulates warm air through the three shelves. This keeps products hot, while ensuring that shelves are safe to touch and permitting convenient access to customers without the need for doors or heat-retention curtains.

The unit measures 1060mm wide x 870mm deep x 2000mm high. Operating temperature is 75C and running costs average o3 per day. Also new from Nuttall is the Frambient, claimed to be the world's first integrated fridge and ambient cabinet. The open-fronted, full-height (2000mm) cabinet runs off a 13-amp connection and enables chilled foods to be held on display alongside ambient snack foods. Cabinets are made in widths of 1152, 1200 and 2500mm.
