London targets Brits

The London Tourism Action Group is spending £500,000 on marketing London to the British public. It had planned to promote the capital overseas, but now intends to target Britons who have cancelled holidays abroad and opted to stay in the UK.

Lone Star buys beds

US investor Lone Star has bought 24 Mister Bed two-star and budget hotels in France through agent Christie & Co's Paris office. Mister Bed adds 1,859 bedrooms to Lone Star's existing portfolio of 13 French hotels with 1,260 bedrooms.

Big Beat goes on

Glasgow-based bar and restaurant group G1 has bought Big Beat's 17 pubs and restaurants for a price understood to be about £17m. The deal is expected to be completed in mid-December. Big Beat went into receivership in April.

Jumeirah takes over

Dubai-based hotel group Jumeirah International takes over the management of London's Carlton Tower and Lowndes hotels from the Hyatt Group on 1 December. The company's properties in Dubai include the Jumeirah Beach, Emirates Towers and Burj Al Arab hotels.
