No more sales?

London-based Café Med says it is not planning to dispose of any more restaurants, despite the sale of two outlets to Groupe Chez Gérard last week (Caterer, 10 August, page 10). Café Med chairman Simon Binder said: "They made us offers we couldn't refuse, so we accepted them." But the group would hold on to its other six restaurants, he said.

Principal alarmed

Principal Hotels has given security alarms to 300 staff who work alone, such as night porters and duty managers. The alarms are intended to allow staff to alert someone if they are attacked, taken ill or facing some other emergency.

Senate win

Senate Food Services has won the contract to feed students and staff at Rewley House college in Oxford, worth £500,000 a year in turnover. Senate clinched the deal in competition with seven other contractors, including Baxter & Platts, which previously held the contract.

BGR to sell?

BGR restaurants has confirmed that it is in talks with a consortium of private investors interested in buying its upmarket restaurants. The directors of BGR thought the price "attractive" but added that it was too early to say whether the approach would lead to a sale. BGR's restaurants comprise Bank and Zander, both in London, and another Bank, in Birmingham.
