Irish army to go private
THE Irish army is expected to contract out its catering operation, as soon as government approval is granted.
The contract would involve 300 staff at up to 30 non-operational barracks around the country.
Price Waterhouse is among consultants carrying out an audit for the government of the defence forces, including catering operations.
Due to be completed very shortly, it is expected to recommend contracting out to save money and free personnel for army duties.
