It's the end for New End

The New End restaurant in Hampstead, London, has closed a little more than a year after it opened.

The 50-seat restaurant, owned by Greenwood Restaurants, received two stars from the Evening Standard's food critic Fay Maschler - her top award - just 11 days after it opened in March last year.

Head chef Tom Ilic left the New End in February to join the Eton Town House Group. He remained a consultant until the end of March (Caterer, 3 May, page 71).

Samantha Pitt, formerly senior sous chef at Jean-Christophe Novelli's Maison Novelli, took over as head chef in April.

No one from Greenwood was available for comment.
