Jarvis boss among Honours line-up

John Jarvis, chairman of Jarvis Hotels, was appointed CVO (Commander of the Royal Victorian Order) for his services to the Prince's Trust in the New Year Honours.

Also honoured was Michael Jolly, chairman of the Tussaud's Group, who received a CBE for his services to tourism.

OBE awards went to Elaine Noble, the former acting chief executive of the English Tourist Board, Neville Dyckhoff, director of catering at the Metropolitan Police, and Robert Pendlebury, chairman of the Northumbria Tourist Board.

Bonnie Purchon, president of the Scarborough Hotels Association, and Audrey Trewick, of the Gosforth Park hotel in Northumbria, were both made MBEs in the first Honours of 2001.

Also gaining MBEs were school dinner lady Sandra Rutter and toastmaster Victor Haydon.
