La Potinière back again after revamp

The former Michelin-starred La Potinière restaurant in Gullane, East Lothian, that closed last year, has reopened as a restaurant under the same name.

It was thought the business, that was sold last month, was to be used as a private house.

But its new owners Keith Marley and Mary Runciman have reopened it as a restaurant, again called La Potinière.

They bought the business from Hilary and David Brown, who had owned it for 25 years.

Marley said he and Runciman aimed to stamp their own style on it. He added: "The Browns had a very good reputation and we realised that some people would want to compare us, but we are not trying to emulate them. We want to do our own thing and develop our own style.

"We have had former clientele come in and say they like what we are doing and we are also building a new clientele. We have completely refurbished and redecorated the restaurant and have a more relaxed atmosphere."

La Potinière gained a national reputation during the years when the Browns owned and ran it.

They closed it 18 months ago because they wanted a break, and later put it on the market.
