LACA chairman takes job in private sector

John Davis, chairman of the Local Authority Catering Association (LACA), has resigned from his role as general manager of catering and cleaning services at Shropshire County Council to join the private sector.

He plans to leave his position with the council's direct service organisation, Shires Services, to become director of catering operations at a dry food supplier in October when, coincidentally, he relinquishes his two-year chairmanship of LACA.

Davis said he decided to take the job because the council was debating whether to retain Shires Services or to switch to a private contractor.
