Legoland rebuilds its flagship restaurant

Legoland Windsor's flagship restaurant reopened as the Big Restaurant on Saturday, following a £500,000 refurbishment.

The 570-seat restaurant, which is operated in-house, has an aquatic theme, including interactive aquariums where bubbles are released at the press of a button. It also has Lego play areas, so adults can eat while the children play.

The menu includes grilled steaks, salmon and chicken as well as salads and vegetables. Restaurant manager Ian Gribbon said that, although it is a self-service operation, all the food is freshly cooked, including vegetarian dishes. He added that special diets, such as coeliac, can also be catered for.

Up to 12,000 people can pass through the park in a day. There are 10 restaurants altogether, but Gribbon said that average spend (as a percentage of spend per head in the park) at the Big Restaurant is £1.60. There are 32 staff, although this will rise to 40 in high season.
