Maclay Group targets 10 pub openings a year
Scottish pub company Maclay Group has targeted plans to expand its pub estate by 10 licensed sites per year.
The firm, which currently operates 26 managed bars and inns across the country, has hired property surveying firm CDLH Leisure & Hospitality Surveyors to assist with the task.
Alan Creevy, director of CDLH, said: "Maclay has in fact been expanding their portfolio even in the difficult property environment we have had over recent times, but they have now shifted a gear with a planned expansion strategy.
"The intention is to increase the portfolio by around 10 licensed premises per annum and these will include existing businesses as well as development opportunities."
The focus for the expansion plans will be central Scotland, where Maclay's core estate is located, although it is keen to expand in all Scotland's major cities as well as affluent suburban and student locations.
Maclay Group's managing director, Steve Mallon, said: "Our recent supply agreement announcement with Tennent Caledonian Brewers has added to existing finance to support Maclay's expansion drive. We are very excited at the opportunities that are available. Indeed, we are already in negotiations for further acquisitions and we look forward to working with CDLH to expand our portfolio."
