Baxters Foodservice Ltd, as one of the industry's most progressive and dynamic food manufacturers, is delighted to be sponsoring the Catey 2000 Menu of the Year for the second year running. Baxters has been synonymous with quality and innovation throughout its history, for supplying premium products across its extensive range. Our Foodservice division continues this trend by using the company's expertise to provide both exciting products exclusively for the professional kitchen. All our products are developed by a team of highly skilled and creative chefs, who have a first-hand understanding of the hospitality industry. This year is a particularly exciting one for Baxters Foodservice, with an ever more innovative product range being introduced to the hospitality market for inclusion on menus across the country.

"Having this knowledge and understanding the process of preparing a menu is key to providing the industry with quality products that are included on menus for customers to enjoy and return to experience time after time. We are therefore delighted to be associated with this most prestigious award", explains Michael Baxter.

Unlike the other Cateys, which are awarded through industry nominations, the Menu of the Year is a unique category. A panel of industry professionals judge the final menus, selected each month from entries appearing in Chef's Menuwatch menu of the month, which is sponsored by Baxters Foodservice Limited. The monthly winners receive £100 towards a meal at the restaurant of their choice.

The 12 winning menus are assessed by the panel of judges who follow strict criteria, including creativity of the dishes, considerations for the use of seasonal produce, technical knowledge resulting in well balance tastes, flavours, textures and compositional appearance of the menu and value for money. The judges are also looking to see if the menu or selection of dishes alone would entice them to eat at the restaurants. To be eligible to enter this category, the restaurant must be in the UK.

Last year's Menu of the Year category attracted a large number of high-calibre entries, including the winning menu from the Glasshouse, Kew,London, and this year we are looking forward to an even more impressive selection.
