New bar Her Majesty's Secret Service to open in Bristol

A new cocktail bar and "punch house" named Her Majesty's Secret Service is to open in Bristol.

Set to open on 24 July, the new 80-capacity bar, also to be known as HMSS, comes from the team behind London cocktail bar and consultancy group the Cocktail Trading Co., comprising Ben Alcock, Andy Mil, Olly Brading, and Elliot Ball.

It will be on the site of the city's former Charlie's Bar, on Whiteladies Road, next to Clifton Down Station.

It will serve a wide range of cocktails, within an environment aiming to be relaxed, luxurious, and creative. There will also be punches, and non-alcoholic "faux-tails", alongside tastings, masterclasses, and cocktail events.

The design has been described by the founders as a mixture of influences, such as industrial, gin palace, espionage, and regal drinking parlour, inspired by the type of place in which "James Bond would hide from his associates".

As a cocktail consultancy and bar cooperative, the Cocktail Trading Co. has worked with some of the most well-known drinks companies, including Diageo Reserve, along with bar groups the London Cocktail Club, and Steam & Rye.

Based in the Basement at 22 Great Marlborough Street, London, it helps to develop new cocktail concepts, support fair working conditions for bar workers, provides cocktail masterclasses and a professional bar school, as well as sourcing and selling tools for mixologists and bartenders.
