There are two designs in the range, both set on a white porcelain base. Ménara has gold and platinum diamonds reflecting an Eastern style, while Bayadere is influenced by the striking colour contrasts used by the French painter Matisse.

A filling solution

Not so long ago salad cream was in terminal decline, but this peculiarly British dressing has undergone something of a revival and is the binder in the latest salad filling from Fridays.

While there may be nothing exotic about egg and salad cream as a sandwich filling, Fridays says its version is more piquant than the usual egg mayonnaise filling. While suitable as a filling on its own, it can also be augmented with a range of filling extras, from salad cress to chopped bacon.

Price: £2.75 per kg
