Rooms on campus A 161-bedroom Travel Inn Metro opens on 28 November on Nottingham Trent University's campus. Whitbread is leasing the site, directly opposite the students' union building, from the university. The manager will be Paul Huggins. The hotel will include a restaurant and bar with outdoor patio.

Aagrah's new HQ The Aagrah restaurant group opened new premises, including its head office and a 100-seat restaurant, in Shipley, West Yorkshire, on 28 October. The development cost £500,000 and took four months. The group is owned by the Sabir brothers, who run seven Kashmir restaurants in the Yorkshire area.

Cardiff Bay scallops Scallops has opened in Cardiff Bay. The 80-seat seafood restaurant has space for 80 outside when weather permits. The 172sq m waterfront unit in Mermaid Quay leisure centre has been taken on a 25-year lease at an initial rent of £39,600 a year. Owners Terry and Kerry Jayne previously owned the Game Larder restaurant in Stockbridge, near Winchester, Hampshire.

York Saddles up Melton's Too café-bar opened in York on Monday (29 October). The 137-seat café is housed in three storeys of a former 17th-century saddlery. The conversion started in April and cost £500,000. It is the second venture in York for owners Michael and Lucy Hjort and will be less formal than their Melton's restaurant, which opened in 1990.
